Following on from finding out that I had made it to the top 100 in the UK, I have now found out that I am the “winner” of “National Driving Instructor in The South East” of the UK. Not only that I was “Highly Commended” (which means Top 3) in the UK. When the results were announced I couldn’t believe that I had gone so far in the competition. I was literally in shock, mostly because I had been reliably informed that if I had gone any further in the competition that I would have been notified in advance, which I hadn’t.
Once the shock of winning had sunk in I had time to reflect on the achievement. I realised that this wasn’t just a reflection of my teaching ability but also the standards that are set by the driving school. As far as I’m concerned the award could have gone to any of my team of instructors. We all work to incredibly high standards and as a result we all receive a lot of recommendations.
The team continues to grow and standards are always kept high. Any new instructors will work to the same standards as the rest of the team. We are looking to build our team further, not just in Newbury but also surrounding towns too. Our philosophy is to provide our customers with the best level of tuition possible, not simply to pass their driving test but to make them competent drivers.
This award has come about after 17 years of hard work. From day one I worked to the highest possible standards. However I have never assumed that I was ever the finished product. Myself and my team continue to learn and improve.
