So, you are pulling into the multistorey carpark of Festival Place in Basingstoke to pick up some Christmas prezzies (it is always just around the corner), you have just passed your test following some intensive driving lessons, and in your haste, you have accidentally clipped the back of an awkwardly parked Ford Focus. Ah, this is pretty awkward. CCTV aside, what do you do in this situation? Well, research conducted by Euro Car Parts discovered roughly 1/3 of the 2000 drivers questioned would simply choose to wash their hands of the matter and drive away, as opposed to informing the car-owner.
According to the survey, 72% of women claimed that they would let the car-owner know if they had caused damage to their vehicle. Whereas only 68% of men would do the same. The study also revealed which city’s drivers were least likely to own up to damaging someone’s car. I will not say whether the results were surprising or not, I will allow you to be the judge. London Clocked in at 43%, meaning that it is basically a coin flip as to whether someone will inform you that they have scratched up your paintwork.
Oxford are not far behind at 40% of drivers fleeing the scene. This leaves Liverpool, Glasgow, and Norwich level-pegging at around 33% each for dishonest drivers. The Group Digital Director of Euro Car Parts, Chris Barella, tempered the findings by admitting ‘Parking can often be a challenge for motorists, especially in cramped and busy urban environments like large cities.’

I didn’t just get to learn to drive to pass the driving test but Peter taught me what other qualities and awareness a driver should have when on the road. And this is why I regard Peter highly as a driving instructor.
Hi Bank.
Thank you for your comment. Glad to see you’ve passed and good to see you being able to drive your family around too.
