Congratulation Theo Ingham on passing driving test with 4 minor marks in an automatic car in Greenham on Saturday 20th September. We started lessons around June and progressed steadily working mostly on lane discipline, mirror checks and observations on manoeuvres. A good test drive resulted in a first time pass.
The DfT has confirmed that, starting from December this year, all councils across England and Wales, including Hungerford, will be granted new road enforcement abilities. They will be able to give motorists up to £70 fines for moving traffic offences such as making illegal turns and stopping in a yellow box junction. At present it is only the local authorities in Cardiff and London that can give out these kinds of penalty notices, elsewhere it is the responsibility of the police force. During a Traffex Industry event, minister for transport, Baroness Vere stated, ‘Local authorities will need the tools to manage roads in the way that best serves local needs, which may vary in different parts of the country, and it is that ethos of localism that lies behind our decision to give more powers to local authorities under the Traffic Management Act.’
However, spokesman for the RAC, Simon Williams, expressed some scepticism over this decision, saying he is ‘fearful’ that some of these authorities may abuse their new powers for additional revenue. Last year it was revealed that London and Cardiff authorities made more than £58 million from motorists committing moving traffic offences between 2018 and 2019. This indicates how these fines may be particularly profitable. This also illustrates the importance of diligent driving schools and instructors who ensure that their pupils are aware of the rules of the road, otherwise pupils could find themselves continually fined for moving offences.

Thanks Peter. Having to fit in around work hours wasn’t ideal but your lessons built up an understanding on the how and why of driving perfectly, so it all stuck for the test (and beyond I hope).
Hi Theo.
Congratulations on your first time pass and thank you so much for your review.
