Congratulation Elodie Day on passing your driving test today at Newbury test centre, even managing to get your favourite manoeuvre, the “Parallel Park”. Following in the footsteps of your older brother Ed and your older sister Maddie, it’s now the end of an era. Well done and enjoy your freedom. See you on the road.
UK Driving Standards: Ensuring Road Safety and Efficiency
The United Kingdom is renowned for its stringent driving standards and road safety regulations, which are designed to ensure the safety of all road users while maintaining an easy to us and comprehensive traffic system. The UK has rigorous driving tests and continuously updates road safety measures. The UK places a significant emphasis on maintaining high driving standards. Here’s an in-depth look at the driving standards in the UK and why they are so essential. We will cover these driving standards in later posts.
At Peter Skelton Driving School we aim for the same high standards as sought by the DVSA. We encourage all pupils to reach a level higher than is needed to simply pass a driving test. The reason being is that once the test is passed then the real hard work begins to enable you to drive anywhere, safely.
Not only general driving but also manoeuvres. Ask yourself if you’re able to park in the real world once you pass your driving test. Parking in an empty car park is one thing, but what about in a busy supermarket?
Please visit our reviews page to see what our pupils have to say.

Thank you Peter! The consistency has been very important to us, knowing our 3 have all been taught to such a high standard. We have had to contend Covid restrictions and more recently the difficulties in getting a test booked. A well deserved hat trick!
Hi Jo.
Thanks for your feedback. A hat trick of siblings is always good. Certainly Covid made things difficult but we got the re in the end.
