"I can't recommend Cathy highly enough. When I started, I never imagined I'd pass my test on the first try. I'm a nervous driver and was very reluctant to get behind the wheel. She always took the time to explain things clearly and never made me feel silly for needing to recap the same thing over and over. "Wow, Lou is brilliant.
My son has autism & an anxiety disorder called selective mutism which triggers the freeze response in his vocal chords in most situations. This means that he was never likely to be able to speak to Lou.
She & I had a long conversation before his first lesson & she said she was happy to give teaching him a go. For the first 5 or 6 lessons my husband or I sat in the back of the car & then my son was confident enough to go out without us.
Lou had to change her teaching style to suit my son’s needs. It’s not easy getting no verbal feedback from a pupil but she learnt to read his body language. She also went above & beyond in speaking to the test centre to explain so that they could tailor the test to accommodate his specific needs.
Fast forward a year from his 1st lesson & he has just passed his test (on the 1st attempt) with just 2 minor faults. I was delighted & wanted to sing Lou’s praises.
When I asked him whether he would recommend her as an instructor he said he would because she was calm & patient & kind.
